charlie butcher passed away yesterday in the arms of his family in boulder. he was a noted philanthropist in boulder, on the board of the lazy 8 foundation (which provided funds for the rosetta project among other things), and was involved with the influential 60's movement the weather underground. his wife, jane, is a good friend of mine, and one of the co-chairs of the conference on world affairs. for more on charlie's life, read his obituary in boulder's daily camera.
