ugh.

i had an excellent night last night. first was the tori amos concert. just outstanding. it was a solo show, just tori and four keyboards (piano, organ, electric organ, synth). and simply phenomenal. her cover of "magic man" (i guess that was a seattle thing, since heart is from here) was just fantastic. and i almost started to lose it when she closed with "tear in your hand," which was pretty much the biggest emotional response i've had to a concert in quite a while. my seat was pretty great, too. i was up in the 3rd balcony, but in a box seat only as far back as maybe the 4th or 5th row down on the ground. so i had an excellent view. i took some photos, but my mac is down right now, so i can't post them just yet. i also had a spare ticket, since i bought them when i was still with merith back in january, but i sold it on craigslist at almost the last minute to a nice woman who made for some good conversation.

then i went out to the mission, a new-ish bar in west seattle, for a going-away party for my friend jana's roommate dan. that was also a good time. jana is friends with andy, who i went to high school with, and who's now dating molly, through some ben folds fan club thing. and jana's friends are pretty cool. we've started a book club, and our next meeting is coming up on the 30th.

but then for some reason, after awakening at my usual saturday roll-out-of-bed time of 1 pm, making some scrambled eggs & toast, reading some of ender's shadow (spurred by a conversation during cwa about how orson scott card is an evil motherfucker and yet a great writer), and getting a pizza from the domino's next door, i fell asleep on the couch around 3:30 or 4, only to wake up again at 8. i'm slowly waking up again, but i just don't feel like doing anything. i kinda half-assedly cleaned the bathroom throughout the day, and ran the dishwasher, and tried to get my mac working (i blame a recent upgrade to mac os x 10.3.9, combined with the fact that i'm using a pc keyboard running through a kvm switch that doesn't allow the hold-down-"c"-to-boot-from-cdrom option to work...), but i had wanted to get some work done on my truck, peanut, and maybe go for a walk.

oh well. maybe i'll finish reading ender's shadow, and then write to lindsey.

Ender's Shadow is awesome, and all of Card's stuff is great, even though he is an evil motherfucker: cmon, anyone who can write about the human response to war, destruction and personal avarice is bound to ve sinister...but read the rest of the books anyway: when I grow up, I want to be as intuitive as Bean...
