somewhere in middle america
yep, i'm in omaha, here for my sister's graduation. the whole fam's out here, with the exception of two uncles -- one who just sent my sister the money he would have spent on a plane ticket, and one who we haven't seen in years except at my grandfather's funeral. things are already pretty interesting, as one of my sister's friends (not a close friend, i guess, but a friend nonetheless) killed himself yesterday. i guess you know you're no longer a teenager when you can't even begin to understand why someone would do that.
the graduation ceremony's on monday, and should prove to be just about as exciting as mine six years ago. then on tuesday we're off to london. my sister wants to bring her new powerbook with her, which i guess is fine with me since i don't really want to bring mine. i can live without watching dvd's on the plane if it means i don't have to worry about where my laptop is at all times. besides, i'm on vacation.
i finally talked to kari yesterday, now that she's back from southeast asia. she's actually been back in the states for a couple of months, but is reconnecting to her life here in small increments. of course, i gave her crap for not telling me she was in colorado earlier, since i would have gone to see her before leaving, but that's kari.
today i will be rebuilding the pond in my mom's back yard while my sister has her graduation party. that should be fun, i guess.
