well, the car is dead. it threw a rod through the engine block. time to decide whether to call the junkyard, or part it out and sell things on ebay. hmm...a quick check shows that ebay might not be a good idea -- this guy is going for $285, essentially the same as d1, but with 100,000 less miles. junkyard it is. darren seems to be taking it well, considering it was his car for many, many years.
