random phone calls are the greatest

today has been an excellent day for random phone calls.

first kari called while i was at work, and my cell phone actually rang. there's usually only about a 20% chance that a call will get through to my cell phone while at my desk. we made plans to hang out when i'm in colorado this weekend. we'll both be at josh's wedding, but i didn't get to see her either of the two other times i've been back in colorado since moving to seattle, so it'll be good to see her again.

then katie's cell phone randomly called me while i was driving home, and left a very short, blank voice mail. so i called her back to see what was up. good to hear that she's doing well, too. hopefully she can come visit seattle some time soon; or maybe i can find some time to hang out with her in portland again.

and just now, while i was having a guinness and watching van wilder (what? it's funny), molly called because she couldn't sleep and she figured i'd still be up, living on the west coast and all. also good to hear from her, and good to hear that she's back in her apartment in omaha and that she's found work.

i think i'll fold some laundry, have another guinness, and finish watching this movie.
