yeah...i haven't really been updating this much lately. so here you go. i hope you're happy.

last weekend i went to see the faint in concert with beep beep and tv on the radio. that was an awesome show. the faint, of course, are just amazing live, and i danced my ass off. i'd never heard the openers before, or so i thought -- i recognized one of the tv on the radio songs from somewhere... dunno where, but i need to pick up their album. and beep beep was great as well. this guy mike sweeney, who was a freshman at north high when i was a senior, is the drummer for beep beep. i talked to him for a bit between sets, and he surprisingly remembered me. after the show, i wandered over to this sushi place where this guy i know was playing some crazy music with a powerbook and a bunch of nifty electronic gadgets. that was a good show as well.

last night merith and i went to see the magnetic fields in concert. they were just fantastic. i only have 2 of their albums, 69 love songs which i got from molly (thanks molly!), and "i", which i bought on the itunes music store. it's odd because even though those two albums are kind of gimmicky in their premise (69 love songs is, well, sixty-nine songs about love, and "i" is a bunch of songs that have titles starting with the letter "i"), they're great music. and the lead singer, stephin merritt, has this great voice that's sort of like a cross between mike doughty and leonard cohen, although that's not a very good description. but it's unique and great. and better in concert. the pianist/percussionist/vocalist claudia gonson has this great sort of shy yet exuberant stage presence, plus i just found out that she may or may not have a ph.d., which is extra-cool.

time now to eat dinner. i'm going to try cooking a steak on my george foreman grill.
