lazy day of cleaning
i slept in until about noon-thirty today. i hadn't been out very late last night; i'd just dropped in on my friend kevin's little dj-ing show at this little chinese restaurant in capitol hill around 11:30, and that closed down around one-ish. (i didn't get there until 11:30 because i was watching the premier of a new sci-fi show called "threshold," which is sort of an x-files-ish show about an alien invasion of some sort. the premier was good enough to tell my tivo to keep recording the shows -- decent storytelling, good special effects, good acting by all around including charles dutton and brent spiner, and it's produced by brannon braga, who did a great job producing star trek: deep space nine. plus the lead character is a brunette named molly, so that has promise.) i think i went to bed around two-ish after eating some toast with dalmatia fig preserves (left here by my friend katie, who crashed on my couch for a few days on her way to shipping out with the coast guard) and emailing molly.
molly's friend josh and his fiancee amy, who had been crashing on my living room floor for a few days in the midst of their journey around the country, were packing up while i cooked myself an omelet with chunks of sausage and red bell pepper. i'd previously tried an omelet with chunks of sausage and cheddar cheese, but that turned out to be too greasy. so this time i dropped the cheese, added the pepper and some lawry's seasoning salt, and soaked up the grease from the sausages between cooking them and adding them to the omelet. it turned out much better.
then i watched friday night's episode of battlestar galactica. which was awesome. at that point, i realized that the day was going fast (it was about 2pm), so i took a shower and attempted to clean up a bit around my house. i managed to get the living room relatively clean, and put away all of the painting implements that i no longer need (for a while, anyway) now that i'm done with painting my living room. then i took all of the yard tools and the two bicycles that had been sitting out on the deck and managed to shoehorn them into the already over-filled garage. i once again reminded myself that i need to buy a storage shed for all of that stuff.
and now i'm going to clean up my dishes from breakfast and head over to kevin's house for an engagement party for him and his girlfriend of many years, margaret.
