stupid lamp
so my dad made me these really awesome lamps for my birthday. when we first hung them, the spaceship-looking one in the foyer stairwell shorted within about 2 minutes, and the crazy octopus-looking one in the dining room blew out its bulb in a few hours. i dissected them (a month later now) and re-engineered them to have a better loadbearing bit on the end of the cord where it goes into the socket. i put 'em back up, and now the spaceship has gone and shorted again. after we put the big-ass ladder away, of course.

so i taped over the lightswitches for that one, and i'll dissect it again later. bah. probably the ground wire slipped off its screw again. gonna have to re-engineer that bit, too.
